Nest Update 7-6-14 – Another Successful Season!

Good Evening, Fellow Nestizens!!

Due to the fact that neither of the eaglets were seen and only heard a couple of times today in the nest tree I think we can safely infer that Dakota fledged sometime this morning. A couple of fly ins were seen to the high perch but no identifications were made. No feedings, other than the nestover duck which no one saw consumed, took place today in the tree. So, Arky and Dakota have both fulfilled their destinies and become denizens of the wild blue yonder. We wish them all the luck in the world and hope they survive to extend the MNB bloodline to a new generation of eagles.

We will still be watching the cam for them to return from time to time to the nest tree while they learn to use their newfound skills. And I will still be here to let you know what happened when they do.

Congrats, Mom and Dad and Arky and Dakota! I am sure Skye will be watching over you as you as you set out on your life’s journey!

Dakota fledged?? Yippee! When do I get to fledge, Grampa??

I hope your Sunday of the holiday weekend was as good as the other days. We’ll see you on the nest tomorrow.

Thank you for the blog and for all the videos from Dragonlainey. I’m sorry you had to deal with some “haters.” I hope they get the help they need. Looking forward to next year. God Bless.

This has been a great season and many thanks to everyone mentioned in the other comments. It’s hard to put into words how great they all make this experience for all of the eagleholics! I’m so glad I found the eagle cam a few years ago and do enjoy watching how the eaglets develop and how wonderful the parents are! Sad the season is almost over but looking forward to next season! Everyone’s contribution is really appreciated! Thanks!!!!!

hi talon, et all. enjoyed your blog so much, when I wasn’t able to watch, it was such a good way to catch up on all the funniness and learning taking place on the nest. thank you one and all- talon, birdbrain, dragonlainey, the bbc and mnb. I hope all that included the panners of the cam. I enjoy your writing and the captions under the days pics (hilarious). i’ll hang around too for awhile, but look forward to next year. I was (maybe the only one?) that could never figure how to put the live nest with the other chat place, so the blog and vids were a big plus for me. thank you with much gratitude, take care everyone. fran oops with gratitude

So many people to thank for all their efforts trying to keep the watchers, perch-ers, and chatters informed and educated! This year was different for me. I had to withdraw from the heavy watching I did the previous year. That made Talon’s blog, LBJ’s screen caps, BB and the Black’s videos, the FB group, even more important to me. There were countless others who contributed to our daily knowing of “what the heck is going on???” To them I say “thank you.” I truly enjoyed “meeting” Arya and can only hope she’ll “fledge” into the sweet and good natured personality that Grandpop is influencing her to be! 🙂 ❤

Great Season to watch with the ‘weather’ dramas ‘bonking’ drama, ‘goose & eggs” drama. Good place to be if you like suspense and drama. Sure next years will be just as ‘fun’ with nice people who understand force of nature and circle of life. BBC/MN/ MN State Lottery. thanks for the viewing this year. Oh… .thank you too, Talon ;P

Thank you so much for your updates this eagle season! I watched the eagles EVERY day last year, but got so attached to them that I had terrible withdrawal when the season was over. This year I have relied primarily on your daily email updates, and have absolutely loved them! My deepest gratitude to you!

Thank you Talon for all your hard work and dedication in writing this hilarious, tremendous blog this season! Your words made the nest come alive for so many of us! The captions to the pics were always hysterical and were like reading the comics. Thank you also to dragonlainey and Birdbrain for the amazing videos! You helped us see what we missed during the day. LBJ your pics are stunning. Thanks also to BBC and MNB for bringing us this cam and letting us view this wonder of nature!

I would so like to know for sure that Dakota did fledge successfully and is with Arky and family. There have always been pictures in the past as when Arky was found o.k. after not knowing what happened to him. Dakota just had a much harder time getting food and then the growth on his mouth that no one could explain.I have watched 5 sites this year ( my first time watching eagles) and all have fledged and been seen flying and eating except for little Dakota—he is just gone—–on the ground?—-hurt?—-chased by a pack of crows?—-or really fledged and being fed and with parents. I assume no one will be looking for him as they did Arky, no camera footage, it seems odd . Thank you for your reports. The first thing each morning when I wake up.Please try to find where he may be. I became far too attached to these beautiful birds.

How bittersweet…to be happy and sad at the same time. I’m gonna miss these two but I’m sooo glad to see they’ve made it through the harsh winter and all the challenges they faced on the way to becoming the fine young eagles they are.

Thanks for all your time, Talon, and the efforts you’ve put into giving us such great blogs. Thanks also to LBJ for the room, the Social Stream that was calm (most of the time ;)), the wonderful screen captures and a pleasant place to come visit with friends while watching our beloved Mom and Dad raising their brood.

Thanks BBC and MNB for the cam and cam gnomies who showed us such beautiful scenery and kept us aware of where our eaglets and Mom and Dad were and allowed us to see the other wildlife in the area, too.

Thanks BB and the Blacks for their wonderful videos that helped us know what was going on when we weren’t able to be here to view it in person.

And thanks all you wonderful friends and chatters for making this another wonderful and fun season being Eagleholics together! Can’t wait til next season…same time, same station and hopefully a “fixed” USCREAM! LOL
