Nest Update 7-11-14 – From The Soggy To the Sublime…

Good Evening, Fellow MoonTanners!!

Friday started wet and wild at the nest tree and our eagle family was holed up undercover somewhere trying to stay dry. As the morning progressed the rain moved out of the area and things began to dry out once again. Not much was seen of the eagles until later in the day when our intrepid panner spotted Mom and Dad at their favorite staycation perch on the far pole across the road. It’s not as quiet a place as it used to be as our now flying juvies have followed them over there and were seen circling around them late today. The 2 juvies have found a perch of their own on this side of the road in a bare treetop about 150 yards from the nest. That perch affords them a good view of the cars passing on the road and is within shouting distance of the Parents on the far pole. The panner found them sitting there late today just hanging out and squeeing once in a while. One of the juvies left the tree and was seen crossing the cam and was then heard landing in the nest tree. The panner pulled back to our normal view and spotted what sounded like Arky on the high perch.

As darkness fell the Supermoon rose and lit up the scenery again. We saw a lovely reflection in the pond and our Superpanner zoomed in and showed us a great reflection of the moon in the water with skitterbugs skating across it. Thanks, panner, that was a super shot.

On to the vids and pics of the day!

Hope your TGIF friday was a good one and you have a great weekend planned. Have fun and if you find you have a few spare minutes drop in at the Ostrich Cam and see whats going on. As of this writing both remaining eggs have internally pipped and Dash expects hatches beginning tomorrow night. Should be an interesting time!

We’ll see you in the tree tomorrow!

Was sooo hoping our kiddies would be fledged and well on their way so that we could watch Dash’s O’s hatching. I think they knew they’d only have our full attention for a little while longer so they’ve been giving us some pretty nice shot of their flights. Kudos to BBC and MNB for the cam, the Blacks, BB and LBJ for the wonderful videos and stills shared with us all and the cam gnomie for all the great panning about. Tonight’s moon shots were absolutely gorgeous! And, as usual, thanks to you, Talon, for your great blog keeping us all updated! Next stop, Dash’s O’s and I’m sure I’ll see most of you there!
